Announcing the Twestival SF Guitar Hero Contest! We want you to show us how you can shred like Yngwie Malmsteem with Guitar Hero!

Just record a video of you stage (or couch) diving and upload it to your favorite video sharing site – youtube, seezmic, 12 seconds, etc. Then, let us know where it’s living online – a simple tweet to @TwestivalSF will suffice.

We’ll embed the video here for all to see. And more importantly – TO VOTE ON!

The twitterverse will have a chance to gaze upon your guitar hero awesomeness and vote for their favorite! Two finalists will get a chance to participate in a head to head “Rock-off” for a truly amazing prize.

Here’s all you need to do:

The Twestival SF team is pleased to announce that Deborah Crooks will be performing her lyric-driven and soul-wise music at Twestival SF taking place Thursday, February 12th.

Deborah is also a writer and blogger, active on twitter (@deborahcrooks) and in the realm of social media in general. She has appeared during SXSW and her latest release, the full-length CD “Adding Water to the Ashes” draws on equal parts rock and roll, Americana and the songwriter tradition. We’re very excited to add her to the Twestival line up!

Join us for an historic global event!

On Thursday, February 12th, San Francisco is joining forces with over 60 cities around the world, harnessing the power of twitter, social media and technology for an evening of fun and networking to raise money and awareness for Charity: Water.

Why is it historic?
For the first time ever twitter (www.twitter.com) users from around the world will be participating in a single event to be broadcast live from major cities to benefit a single vitally important cause.

Why Water?
Right now 1.1 billion people on the planet don’t have access to safe, clean drinking water. That’s one in six of us. Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of all sickness and disease, and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Many communities in developing nations often have a plentiful supply of clean drinking water just below the ground, but no way to get to it.

What is Charity: Water?

Charity: Water is a non profit organization bringing clean, safe drinking water to people in developing nations by funding sustainable clean water solutions in areas of greatest need. www.charitywater.org
